The work of kurdish-turkish artist Dilara Özkan explores the behaviours of metaphysical energies - the essence of growing into a body that coexists with external influences. Her translation of unfiltered, raw emotions into delicate yet striking lines expresses her curiosity for natural sciences, such as astronomy, biology and the occult. Diving into these scientific fields, Özkan believes in synchronicity and interconnectedness. Through her use of mixed media in combination with gifts from nature she experiments with contrast and textures.

Growing up in Germany taught her to arbitrate between two cultures, ultimately pushing her to be highly receptive to external emotions. From a young age, Özkan is fascinated by everything that has breath and the inevitable dependency we have on it. Believing in the presence of a collective brain shapes her attentiveness towards fine nuances, originating from plants, animals and space. Above all, it is the nonverbal, spiritual communication that inspires her to examine the diverse shapes of energies.
